Ingredients

  • 1 cup MFM Cap Ros All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Rice Flour
  • 41​ cup Urad Dal Flour (Black Gram) (or finely ground and roasted Urad Dal)
  • 2 tablespoons hot melted Butter or Ghee
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame Seeds
  • 21​ teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 21​ teaspoon Chilli Powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt (or to taste)
  • Water, as needed
  • Oil, for deep-frying

Cooking Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the MFM Cap Ros All-Purpose Flour, rice flour, urad dal flour, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, turmeric, chili powder, and salt.
  2. Pour in the hot melted butter or ghee and mix well by rubbing it into the flour. This step is crucial for the Muruku’s crispiness!
  3. Add water gradually, kneading until you form a soft and non-sticky dough.
  4. Load the dough into the Muruku press tool.
  5. Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat.
  6. Press the dough directly into the hot oil in small, circular, spiral shapes.
  7. Fry the Muruku until it turns a golden-brown color.
  8. Remove, drain the oil, and store in an airtight container.
